Matthew Friedman is a writer, filmmaker, photographer, the founding editor of The Typescript (which you really should read), and the author of three books. He is a historian of modernism and of Diaspora Jewish life, and has taught at Rutgers University, Newark, New Jersey Institute of Technology, and the University of Illinois at Chicago. Friedman is currently at work on a study of the relationship between the State of Israel and the Jewish Diaspora since 1948. He has worked as a journalist for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, the Montreal Gazette, The National Post, Wired News, and InternetWeek.
